I desided to make this post in order to give an answer to a problem a had installing PDFCreator v1.2.0 to my WinXp computer and for which i found no answers in the web
Description of the Problem:
The installation of PDFcreator finishes with ERRORS.
In the log file there is a section that reports INSTALL Driver and the Result is ERROR “someNumber” access Denied and is followed by another section that says InstallPrinter and the result is ERROR “someNumber” The printer driver is unknown.
The log file looks like this:
Install printerdriver for Win2kXP2k3 (32bit):
Drivername : PDFCreator
Environment : Windows NT x86
Result: Error 5 = …… Access Denied
InstallPrinter:
Printername: PDFCreator
Drivername : PDFCreator
Portname : PDFCreator:
Result: Error x = The printer driver is unknown
Solution:
Go to this path through windows explorer or give this to Start-Run.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool
there you’ll find a folder “drivers”, right click on it and go properties-Sharing and push the button “sharing rights” or something like this.
If there is not your account’s name mentioned there add it and then run the installation of the program again it will first uninstall and then reinstall successfully and the printer will be created in the printers and faxes folder.
At Least This worked for me!
See all the actions described above, in detail in the screen-shots below:
